What are my thoughts on Axway being once again named a Leader in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for API Management1 — for the tenth time? First, I’m incredibly proud: I feel it demonstrates our continued commitment to helping enterprises manage complexity with confidence.
Second, with our team recently attending the Gartner EMEA Application Innovation & Business Solutions Summit, I’m struck by, in our opinion, how well-positioned Axway is to help enterprises navigate this moment of transformation.
We believe the conversations were clear: API sprawl, governance, and AI-readiness are top of mind for enterprise leaders. These are urgent realities.
Federation is the right answer, now more than ever
I’m particularly happy to share that in companion research published by Gartner along with the report, Critical Capabilities for API Management, Axway received the highest score (3.6 out of 5.0) for the Distributed API Management Use Case for the third consecutive year.²
We’ve long stood by our belief that federated API management is essential to tame complexity across distributed environments. As the landscape shifted, Axway anticipated by introducing a truly federated model that gives enterprises the flexibility to manage APIs across any environment, without proxies or facades.
This gives organizations like Bosch, a global manufacturing and engineering innovator, the ability to manage several hundred million API transactions per month, while developers easily find the right APIs without traversing the entire organization thanks to Amplify Engage.
Amplify Engage empowers organizations to organize, expose, and scale their APIs through intuitive developer portals, reusable business-centric packaging, and powerful analytics. It sits at the center of our customers’ API ecosystems and fosters collaboration between API developers and API consumers, whether those are internal, external, or a combination of both.
But with the explosion of AI, that complexity — and the risk it can bring — multiplies the need to control this to the tenth power. That’s why Axway is extending federation beyond APIs, bringing AI assets such as MCP servers and agents under the same governance model. Enterprises can ensure control and consistency across their digital ecosystem as they prepare for AI at scale.
Governance and API maturity as a foundation for AI
Enterprises today face a dual challenge: managing sprawling, multi-platform API ecosystems and ensuring they’re ready for secure AI integration.
Enterprises need a strong governance foundation to ensure their APIs are secure, observable, and prepared to support intelligent workloads. Just as importantly, a high level of API maturity will determine the success of enterprise AI initiatives.
Amplify API Gateway has long been the cornerstone of this governance, securing, managing and enforcing enterprise-grade security across APIs.
Building on this proven strength, we recently introduced Amplify AI Gateway: a secure control point at the API layer that extends governance into AI interactions. It enforces policies, monitors traffic, and provides visibility into how AI models, MCP servers, and agents interact with your ecosystem – helping enterprises to adopt AI responsibly, without compromising control.
As Bas Van den Berg, Vice President, Amplify Platform at Axway, recently stated:
“If you’re looking to simply connect a few systems, an API-only vendor might be good enough. However, if your vision includes leveraging AI agents, building intelligent enterprise orchestration, breaking down data silos, and creating a truly adaptive enterprise, Amplify is the clear choice.”
Orchestrating complexity with confidence
Amplify Fusion is our new multi-pattern integration platform that unifies legacy systems, SaaS applications, APIs, and event-driven architectures into a single, governed layer to deliver agility, visibility, and scale.
Fusion’s multi-pattern, no-code, and AI-ready orchestration framework enables both technical and business users to rapidly design, test, and deploy complex integrations across APIs, SaaS, events and AI assets. Its composable and AI-ready foundation makes it possible to unify digital flows while maintaining visibility and governance at scale.
We’re already helping Axway customers make a phased, low-risk transition to cloud-based operations with Fusion – like how Dutch mobility insurance provider Bovemij Group is modernizing and integrating legacy infrastructure.
But Fusion’s orchestration capabilities don’t just solve today’s integration challenges — they’re laying the groundwork for what’s next. Consider how this level of control and visibility becomes essential as enterprises begin exploring agentic AI: AI agents introduce complex security considerations, so they require robust identity management and granular access controls.
Without well-defined API security models, agents could inadvertently access sensitive data, perform unauthorized actions, or become vectors for broader system compromise.
An AI gateway allows you to define and configure an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, but purely connecting them is insufficient: enterprises also need to be sure they can seamlessly orchestrate these complex workflows across various systems.
This is where Amplify Fusion comes in. It provides not only the ability to create an MCP interface, but also allows you to integrate and orchestrate the flows with back-end systems in a low-code/no-code manner.

Built for what’s next
Amplify powers secure, intelligent ecosystems — connecting APIs, integrations, and AI assets with confidence. By combining API gateway security, federated API management, Fusion orchestration, and AI governance, Amplify delivers a platform that evolves with enterprise needs and scales with confidence.
As Axway’s CEO, Roland Royer, shared earlier this year in our predictions for 2025: “Nothing is etched in digital stone when it comes to data integration technology. With the pace of change and the impact of external forces – some foreseen and some not – it’s better to be built for change, than built to last.”
Amplify is the platform that’s built for change, and we are ready to securely accompany enterprises in the next evolutions to come.
