Global API Management Market Analysis & Forecast, 2014-2024
The global API management market stood at $ 1.1 billion in 2018 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 22% during 2019-2024 to reach $ 3.6 billion by 2024, on account of the increasing demand for modern application programming interface (API) to connect various applications and devices.
APIs are the next big SaaS wave
While the software revolution started out slowly, over the past few years it’s exploded and the fastest-growing segment to-date has been the shift towards software as a service or SaaS.
SaaS has dramatically lowered the intrinsic total cost of ownership for adopting software, solved scaling challenges and taken away the burden of issues with local hardware. In short, it has allowed a business to focus primarily on just that — its business — while simultaneously reducing the burden of IT operations.
Pew: Congress Should Adopt ONC Guidelines for Cures API Mandates
Congress should adopt the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT’s (ONC’s) guidelines for adopting application programming interfaces (APIs) into health data and HER use, says a group of leading industry stakeholders led by Pew Charitable Trusts.
These guidelines, published this past February, come as a part of the 2016 21st Century Cures Act (Cures) and outline how the medical industry should begin embracing APIs as a means of extracting health data from an EHR.
API Builder Standalone Multi Container Application Using Kubernetes – Part 2
In this blog post we’ll continue from Part 1. We’ll deploy a two container application to Kubernetes (Minikube). The two containers will be an API Builder app and a MongoDB instance. We will also see how the Kubernetes Horizontal Pod Autoscaler (HPA) works by applying a load to API Builder and seeing how Kubernetes will scale up API Builder by adding more replicas.
The role of the API Gateway–“You can’t handle the truth!”
API Gateway are battle-hardened for managing API traffic. The Gateway is deployed as a proxy for management of North-South traffic and is traditionally deployed in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) of the enterprise. North-South traffic describes the client-to-server traffic that moves into the data center from a location outside of the data center. The term North-South comes from network diagram drawings that usually depicts wide area network (WAN) traffic vertically. For API Management, North-South traffic is the external traffic which comes from external clients (API consumers) across the DMZ and arrives at some endpoint behind the DMZ.
API Management, Hybrid Integration and… Legos?
Let’s be honest: it doesn’t matter if you’re 9 years old or 90 years old… Legos are amazing. Any space ship, medieval castle, or unbelievable Rube Goldberg-esque contraption is the result of a precise combination of all sorts of smaller pieces. And the best part is, the possibilities of what you can build with that modularity are endless.
Developers, switch on your kid-brain for a moment and imagine your IT architecture as a Lego set. You have all these pieces—cloud-based applications, on-premises applications, microservices, iPaaS/iSaaS solutions, legacy integrations like MFT and ETL, and so on—that need to be connected in just the right way to build your outstanding final product.
