Winners! Social & Political Cohesion category of #EUvsVirus Hackathon

The #EUvsVirus hackathon assembled some of Europe’s best minds to bring new, creative ideas and solutions to the global pandemic of COVID-19.

In this first all-European hackathon, designers, developers, strategic problem solvers, and inventive startups came together from all around Europe to find effective solutions to overcome the crisis. All winners are invited to the next phase and participate in the “Matchathon.”

This Matchathon event will take place from May 22-25. With the new EIC COVID Platform, the online event aids in bringing together collaborators with users such as hospitals to gain access to investors, foundations, corporate sponsors, as well as other funding possibilities from across the European Union.

Winners! Social & Political Cohesion category

The EUvsVirus hackathon Jury pinpointed the top solutions to help in the fight against COVID-19 in the backing of the European initiative. Axway was an honored sponsor of the Social & Political Cohesion category. The winner was Aidbind. As a winner in this category, Aidbind is now eligible to compete and go to the next level for the “Matchathon” at the end of May.

Boris Mihov was the Project Lead with a team of seven members and directed the all-encompassing strategy to help Aidbind win in its category.

With over 13 years of experience in digital, product, and graphic abilities, this makes him the perfect team lead for the Aidbind project. Spread across six countries including Bulgaria, Malta, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, and the UK (with four different nationalities), the Aidbind team has experience in software engineering, data analysis, design, marketing, and health.

Members such as Gergana Tyaneva, Product Analytics Manager for one of Europe’s largest recruitment platforms, Mirela Arnold-MA Health Science, and Shivangi Kumra—a Big Four Greentech financial advisor and analyst contributed to the success

What is Aidbind?

Aidbind works to bridge the gap with information amongst supply, demand, and the funding of medical products that are acquired through charities, as well as contributions. Aidbind brings forth a data platform that combines the requirements of the hospital with the resources that are available from suppliers.

The Aidbind concept analyzes and pinpoints data for three specific needs:

The Aidbind model is an online go-to information platform for data presentation, as well as collection. The team worked to establish the right channels and submissions so communication will flow smoothly.

“The team is very happy to have won the EUvsVirus challenge and very grateful for Axway’s support. It’s not only an amazing recognition, but it helps us to make our project a reality.” Boris Mihov

Outcome

The outcome for the next six months is to focus on COVID-19 and the shortages in the supply and demand chain so the needs are met. Aidbind technology is working to eliminate the middleman and increase the momentum to get much-needed supplies to the hospitals rapidly.

The end goal is to cover an array of equipment and medical supplies to make sure they reach all the facilities that are most in need. Up-to-date data helps optimize the medical equipment supply and demand chain.

Additionally, the Aidbind team is working on the pilot product focused on Bulgaria. This project is expected to go live in the coming weeks in the hands of donation campaigns which help coordinate their fundraising efforts.

This is the first step towards a pan-European and then a global platform for the coordination of healthcare donations. The team is researching possible partnerships on other continents like Africa, where the COVID-19 crisis and its long-lasting effects on healthcare are yet to emerge. Donations are an integral part of this health financing.
