One of the best parts about working in such a proactive company like Axway and having API Management capabilities is that I get to see very exciting, transformative projects take flight. Sometimes in ways that I could never have even imagined.
Take, for example, the efforts that are being realized with our partner, Shockoe, in developing an app they released this week for Roatan Marine Park. The app, called RMP iPatrol, is designed to help locals and patrol agents protect the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef surrounding Roatán and the Bay Islands in Honduras. This is the second largest reef in the world after the Great Barrier Reef.
Perfect timing for API Management capabilities
Just in time for World Oceans Day, every day visitors to this spectacular reef can now report on environmental discoveries and unusual activity in order to help sustain and protect it in its natural form. Since the Roatán Marine Park employs only a small workforce, having extra eyes on the ground will serve as a great benefit with inspecting and reporting cases.
This app was built on a pro bono status for the Roatán Marine Park. Along with the reporting boating, poaching and environmental concerns, users can now take and send photos and videos while marking the location via their GPS. An extra perk that the app gives for visitors. Axway supported Shockoe’s application creation for this wonderful environmental landmark by providing Axway app development and AMPLIFY API management capabilities.
Great collaboration
It’s so wonderful to see imagination truly take shape and create projects like these that not only lift up the communities of the world we live in but also the people in which they serve. This brings about great collaboration for all. So now it’s time to hit the beach and get my scuba gear.
