Appcelerator Wins Top Honors as OnMobile’s Company of the Year

Appcelerator is proud to announce its title as Company of the Year for 2012 as chosen by the editorial team of AlwaysOn and their partners from top companies such as Hewlett-PackardSilicon Valley BankSierra VenturesDCM and KPMG among various others.
For the past two years, OnMobile and AlwaysOn have put together a list of the top 100 companies in the private sector. Last year, Appcelerator had the great fortune of making the list.  Though OnMobile and AlwaysOn recognize the top 100 companies, only one company is given the prestigious title of Company of the Year; last year, the honor belonged to Flipboard. Flipboard brings together the top media sources throughout the web including The New Yorker, Forbes and Colbert Nation and combines them into one elegantly formatted display alongside your most popular Twitter and Facebook allowing users to specify their interests to create their own custom magazine on their iPad, and as of late iPhone.
But a year has passed and for the second annual AlwaysOn and OnMobile list of the top 100 companies a new company has emerged as the Company of the Year. Industry experts across the globe searched meticulously through the entrepreneurial community to determine which companies they would honor in their listing of the top 100 private companies. Among the hundreds of companies nominated, the experts determined that Appcelerator was at the top of the list.
Appcelerator’s acquisition of Cocoafish in order to provide its own Cloud services set Appcelerator apart from the rest of the crowd. Developers can connect to Appcelerator’s feature set, giving them access to a variety of features that includes photo storing and sharing, check-ins and location services, and social integration. Though providing its own users with Cloud services merits recognition, Appcelerator’s decision to allow access to developers using any development platform helped give them the edge needed to win this award. Always on states, “Because the service is available to any developer, regardless of development platform, Appcelerator is on its way to creating a mobile development platform that can provide service to all developers, not just the ones using Titanium.”
We would like to thank our many partners for helping to improve our services as well as AlwaysOn and OnMobile. For more information on the award from AlwaysOn, check out their post here.
