What “mobile first” really means

New IT

Last week I spent a morning with group of IT executives at the Washington Area CTO Roundtable. My topic was “Apps, APIs & Analytics: What ‘Mobile First’ Really Means.” The story condenses a good deal of what we’ve been seeing in the broader market, as well as what we learned from our recent enterprise survey – namely that as tricky as it is to solve for the new multi-device, multi-OS world, that’s really only the first front as organizations go mobile. Of equal if not larger impact is the explosion in backend data sources (this includes enterprise, SaaS, and public data stores), and the need to measure and make sense of the new app portfolio.
