The Streamdata.io API Gallery has been doing a great job of introducing us to new API providers, and it has also attracted new API providers who are looking to be added to the API Gallery to us. An interesting API that connected with us last week was the micro weather API provider Climacell, who emailed us saying they’d like to be added, and since they already have an OpenAPI definition for their API, it made it very easy for us to add their API to the gallery. So we got to work profiling their APIs, for inclusion with all the other APIs we feature as part of the gallery.
First, what does Climacell do: ClimaCell provides the most accurate weather data in the world by integrating proprietary data extracted from wireless networks and other new sensing technologies with data from traditional sensors. With 90% correlation to ground truth (vs. 50% using radar), it’s the best you can get for your enterprise.
Next, what are some of the essential links for engaging with Climacell:
Climacell isn’t your usual weather API, they are looking to provide data on the weather on the localized level in a narrow timeline, by the hour and the day. Providing valuable weather information to the aviation industry, the fast growing drone space, and beyond. Offering up a pretty unique view of the weather that impacts us daily, in locations around the United States.
Now that we have added Climacell to the Streamdata.io API Gallery, and have the API paths identified from the OpenAPI they have provided, the next step is to obtain an API key and actually get to work making calls against their APIs. We’ll import the OpenAPI into Postman, test drive each of the API paths, and then we’ll take them and benchmark them to see how often they change. We predict the StreamRank for each of their APIs will be pretty high, as they are in the business of delivering data that changes often–making Climacell a perfect target for turning into real time streams.
